Before we can get started with the fun stuff, let’s make sure you have everything you need. Since this class is just covering the basics for decorating this Autumn Picnic set, you’ll need to have sugar cookie and royal icing recipes (and all of the supplies that go with those) on hand. Beyond that there are some additional decorating supplies to gather…
The Essentials
Meringue Powder
Tipless Piping Bags
Gel Food Coloring (I recommend “Americolor” brand)
Super Black
Bright White
Navy Blue
Stone
Forest Green
Gold
Warm Brown
Ivory
Super Red
Eggplant
An edible ink marker
A scribe tool (or pointy toothpick)
Food-safe paint brushes
A penblade or sharp paring knife for hand-cutting dough
Sharp scissors
A rolling pin (ideally with thickness guides)
Access to a printer to print templates
For your convenience, I’ve compiled this supply list on my Amazon storefront. Head on over if there’s anything you’re missing!
Cookie Cutters
There are no cookie cutters available for this class. Instead you will be using the templates provided to cut your shapes. Simply print the template sheet provided (at 100% scale) and cut around the outline of each shape. You can then place the cut-out paper on your dough and use a penblade or sharp paring knife for hand-cutting the shapes.
